Tigran Avagyan, 30 years-old

Field engineer

Tigran is originally from the Vayots Dzor region. He joined Lydian team in spring of 2017. Tigran graduated from Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction with honors, earning Master's Degree in the field of Construction technology in 2010. Later in 2014 he received doctorate degree from the same university. He has authored 6 scientific articles on construction. He has attended several trainings abroad, including Italy, China, Russia etc. His recent achievement is Fidic Engineer Qualification that he received recently from reputable engineering company in Milan, Italy. Tigran has been also teaching at the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction since 2008. Tigran has more than 10 years of experience in construction including 5 years in civil and hydrotechnical construction and 5 years in road construction. 

“I started to work for Amulsar, as I love Voyots Dzor and I believe I can utilize my scientific and practical knowledge for the benefit of Vayots Dzor through this important Project, and get deeper knowledge working alongside professionals from abroad”, - Tigran says.  



Mary Stepanyan, 23 years old

Administration Coordinator 


Mary is from Jermuk. She studied at V. Brusov Yerevan State Linguistic University in 2013- 2017 and got Bachelor Degree in linguistics. She joined Lydian in 2016. Mary is one of hundreds of young people who work for Amulsar Project alongside with international experts and gain experience and on jo-training and this helps them to picture their future in Armenia.

“As a Jermuk resident I know all the problems and concerns people have in Jermuk.  I love my home town and I have lots of plans and goals that I want to implement here.  Lydian has created good ground for this. Economic positive impact of the Project is already seen in Jermuk. Jobs were created, out-migration was reduced. I am happy to be a part of Lydian’s big family and to have a chance to see responsible and careful attitude of the company towards environment, surrounding communities, employees and the work. This makes me happy and I would like to have a larger participation in this Project that is being implemented in our region. I am sure that all our goals will come true due to such responsible approach that the company has”, - Mary says. 




John C. Fourie, 29 years-old

Chief Metallurgist

John is a Chemical Processing Specialist with experience in design, commissioning, and operation of chemical process plants. John has experience with a variety of chemical beneficiation technologies, specifically those related to rare earths, gold and silver, and base metal extraction processes. John also has experience in the design and operation of water treatment plants, as well as the thermal oxidation of volatile organic compounds. 

John has performed work (in varying capacities) for numerous global gold producers, including AngloGold Ashanti, Asanko Gold, IAMGold, De Beers, Anagold, Rand Refinery, and Harmony Gold. John has worked in chemical plants in over 14 countries.

John has a degree in Chemical Engineering, with a specialization in Environmental Chemical Engineering. John graduated summa cume laude; he studied at three universities, including Rhodes University, the University of Johannesburg, and the University of South Africa.
